The Gateway Picture Show Presents: "Sixteen Candles"

  • Gateway Plaza 1568 North High Street Columbus, OH, 43201 United States (map)

The Gateway - University District, in partnership with the Gateway Film Center, presents the Third Annual Gateway Picture Show summer movie series! 2019's theme is "Milestone Anniversaries".

This FREE all-ages event (PG-13 recommended) occurs on the second Tuesday of every month, at sundown, outside in the back of the plaza (by the parking garage and Pearl Alley). Popcorn is graciously and deliciously provided by GFC, and you can purchase an adult beverage - if you so choose - from The District PourHouse. You may also grab to-go food and non-alcoholic drinks from any of the nearby eateries.

Movies start just after the sun sets, so get here a tad early to snag a seat in our comfy outdoor picnic-style lounge area. Feel free to bring your own seating as well! We recommend off-the-ground chairs or blankets and cushions, as the plaza is bricked.

For the month of September, the milestone movie is "Sixteen Candles", which is celebrating its 35th anniversary and made every teenage girl swoon at the thought of Jake Ryan in his red Porsche. Bring your BFF and/or foreign exchange student, and experience (or re-experience?) a little bit of life in a 1980's high school a la John Hughes!
