To Open This Fall at Gateway – University District
Abercrombie & Fitch debuts new concept, Forward Hospitality Group to open 70s-inspired tavern and locally-owned restaurant and coffee shop coming to Gateway
[Columbus, Ohio] July 10, 2018 – The evolution of the Gateway – University District continues with the addition of new restaurants and retail. Serving The Ohio State University area and beyond, Gateway will become home to a new concept developed by Abercrombie & Fitch. Forward Hospitality Group will also debut a new tavern in Columbus called Good Night John Boy. A new, locally-owned eatery and coffee shop are also adding to the mix at Gateway. Elia Athenian Grill will bring authentic Athenian street food to the district and Coffee Connections will open its second location this fall at Gateway. In addition, popular contemporary clothing retailer City Gear will open its 3rd location in central Ohio at Gateway.
These five additions represent more than 14,000 sq. ft. of dynamic space at Gateway – University District and all plan to open by this fall.
Abercrombie & Fitch – Opening August 2018: Located at 1614 N. High Street, Abercrombie & Fitch will open a location at the Gateway-University District serving The Ohio State University neighborhood in Columbus, Ohio. This store will create new brand experiences directly in the middle of a college campus. The new concept will feature Purchase Online Pick Up in Store, Order In Store, Ship from Store as well as a 30-inch interactive screen to allow customers to shop the entire ecommerce site. Items added to a cart can be moved to the guest’s app or the register in the physical store to check out. The Gateway location will also serve as a space used by the Abercrombie & Fitch Brand Ambassador program to build relationships with the University. The stores will hold events and serve as learning labs with a smaller square footage than other A&F stores. Abercrombie & Fitch will also be opening another location in USC Village at the University of Southern California, in Los Angeles, California.
Good Night John Boy – Opening Fall 2018: Located at 1576 N. High Street at the prominent intersection of High Street and Gateway Plaza, Good Night John Boy is a bar and eatery from the Cleveland-based Forward Hospitality Group. Touting a 70s inspired vibe and attitude, the 3,000 sq. ft. tavern and eatery will feature chef-driven biscuit sandwiches. This is the first Good Night John Boy in central Ohio. Forward Hospitality Group also owns and operates Flip Side at Easton and 10 other venues throughout Ohio.
Elia Athenian Grill – Opening September 2018: Locally-owned Elia Athenian Grill is opening its second Columbus location at Gateway at 14 E. 11th Street. “Elia”, the Greek word for olive tree, is the symbol of longevity, well-being and a balanced diet. These characteristics prove to be foundational values for this restaurant. Elia Athenian Grill proudly prepares meals from local, natural ingredients, whole muscle meats with no additives, no MSG and no preservatives. The 2,236 square foot restaurant allows you the freedom to create your own Pitas, Salads and Grain bowls with a large array of toppings, dressings, meats and sauces or to select from a pre-arranged menu. This counter-serve, casual eatery is the perfect place for a quick taste of genuine Athenian street food.
Coffee Connections – Opening Fall 2018: Established by a young family of six, this local coffee shop originating in Hilliard is opening a second location at 1572 N. High Street. Owner’s Nate and Sharon Grenier aim to serve more than just coffee. They both share the common goal of uniting people with their wide array of beverages, in an environment where people can easily connect. From hand brewed coffee, to real fruit slushies and the sweet treat of milkshakes, there is something on the menu for everyone. This 886 square foot coffee shop will make you feel right at home, and will provide the perfect new destination for your daily coffee break.
City Gear – Opening Fall 2018: The new addition of City Gear at 1624 N. High Street offers a source for some of the most popular brands in clothing and shoes. With brands ranging from Adidas to Converse, Nike to The North Face, City Gear is a solution to mainstream style needs. This 4,457 square foot location is the perfect place to grab the latest sneaker trend or casual outfit. City Gear is a part of a national chain, and has a user-friendly, easy to navigate app for both iOS and Android.
